Music Group Ruff ‘N’ Smooth Caught In Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa

by Sfaceentertainmernt.blogspot.com | Posted on
ruff n smotthWhen Ghana’s award-winning Afro beats duo, Ruff N Smooth landed in Johannesburg, South Africa to begin work on the visuals for their newest single “ToloTolo Baby” which features Nigeria’s Wizboyy, they never expected to be caught in the chaos of xenophobia. In recent weeks, several reports and videos have circulated on the inhumane acts from South African natives against foreign migrants.
The attacks and reports while gruesome did not prepare Ahkan and Bullet who make Ruff N Smooth music group for the harsh realities of being in the violence-ridden region. The trip, which only lasted five days [April 15th, 2015 to April 20th, 2015], was cut short due to heated attacks occurring in prime locations picked by the director for the video shoot. To pay their respects to the victims, the shoot was suspended.
Ahkan and Bullet expressed deep sympathy for those caught in the attacks and condolences to victims and families especially those of Ghanaian descent who lost their lives. They have also implored their audience, fans and all of Africa to pray for peace and oneness to prevail in South Africa.
“ToloTolo Baby”, the duo’s newest smash hit, which hit the airwaves by storm is another great Ghana-Nigeria collaboration featuring Wizboyy. The song fuses Twi, Pidgin English and different Nigerian words/phrases and looks to be one of the songs of the season. It also continues to illustrate the beauty that can be produced when two different entities come together for a common goal (in this case music). Ruff N Smooth promises their fans in Ghana, Nigeria and all countries on the continent and beyond the release a world class video production of “ToloTolo Baby” as soon as the violence ceases to resume shooting in South Africa.

Organisers of Flopped Burna Boy Concert Owe Us – Keche

Ghanaian music group Keche says organisers of ‘Di Don Gorgon’ concert which brought Burna Boy and Aka to Ghana did not pay them before they performed at the event. George Britton, manager for the group in an interview on Radio Univers in Accra said organisers of the flopped concert signed a new contract with the group hours before they climbed stage to perform agreeing that they will be paid on Tuesday, 28 April.
Detailing why Keche was not paid before their performance on Friday night, George dislclosed that “organisers said they have used some of the artiste’s money to pay those who setup the stage so we signed another contract on the night that said we will take our money on Tuesday. As at now we have received nothing from the organiers as our performance fee.”
“We will take our money for it to be lesson to other event organisers who do not take the media serious”
Speaking to Abrantepa on Monday, George Britton blamed organisers of the show for low turnout of the event.
“I called organizers of the show two weeks before and complained about publicity of the show but they gave excuses. They said 4syte TV was charging Gh15000 and they did not have enough money to pay”
He continued that Burna Boy and Aka did not show up at the event ground but “Pappy Kojo and other artistes who came never performed”

TV/Event Host, Berla Mundi, has joined the all new Live FM. In an interview with enewsgh.com, she confirmed the news telling us; she’s been looking forward to this opportunity for some time now.
“I’ve been trying to get on radio for a while now, if you recall… I don’t know if you ever tuned into Y FM when Jay Foley was on for the Saturday Morning Show. I used to go on there with him, so that was the whole idea; the plan was to try and get me on radio. That was what Jay Foley had been working on for a while because he thought I was such a phenomenal TV presenter, I have a great voice and I could succeed on radio as well.
So when he confirmed his move to Live FM, he got in touch with me and told me about it and how he would want me to move to Live (FM) along with him because he believed that it’s a big platform and I will do well there so that’s how it started. But before that, we had been talking about getting on radio for a very long time,” she adds.
In a working environment that parades some of the top on-air personalities that the nation boasts of, Mundi believes that she can hold her own even though she is a newbie.
“Honestly, everyone there has a different personality and their brand is different, my brand is different as well. If I’m to join even some of the biggest names as well in any other any institution, I believe what I have should make me big as well and so I would not be in the shadows of the others, I will try my best to bring out something unique so the people will recognize me and my work.”
“Who wouldn’t I want to go to Live FM? It’s like the biggest place to work now in terms of joining another platform or being on another platform (as a TV Presenter), so Live (FM) was from the start, the place I wanted to be,” was her response to the question on why she chose to work with Live FM and not any other station.
“Also, I believe that for a station as new as Live FM and for someone who is practically new on radio like myself, the growing up … we will all grow together. There is a lot I could learn, they have the best team as well so you learn from the best.”
She didn’t disclose the program she will be hosting because “Nobody’s belt has been made public yet so I’d like to keep quiet about that until my bosses are ready to make it known. I’m not sure if I can start talking about it yet because from what I know it hasn’t been made public.”
On the challenge ahead she says: “Well, I got on GhOneTV… I didn’t start Rthymnz. Rthymz existed already but when I joined Rhythmz with BlaqBoy and when we introduced Rhythmz International with Jason and Regina, we were all able to put our minds together and come up with something good enough to make people want to watch.
“And right now, I don’t think you would want to challenge me that Rhythmz is one of the most watched shows in Ghana. We actually even won an award for that, so for someone who is working with a team that has won an award, getting on radio with some of the best people as well should give you enough reason to want to tune in and listen to Berla Mundi.”

Kwaw Kese Slept Outside Prison After A Day Sentence?

by  sfaceentertainment.blogspot.com | Posted on

There was mystery surrounding the whereabouts of the sensational hiplife artiste and rapper, Kwaw Kese aka Abodam, born Emmanuel Botchwey, who was convicted for a day’s imprisonment by the KMA Circuit Court presided over by Justice William Boampong, a high court judge.
He was nowhere to be found in the Central Prisons as he was said to have slept outside the facility.
He was whisked away from court on Thursday to begin his sentence in prison, but the prison authorities said the hiplife superstar was not brought to their custody after the sentence.
ASP Richard Bukari, Ashanti regional Public relations officer of Ghana Prison services, told that the exact whereabouts of the rapper remained a mystery, asserting that the Prison service did not receive the convicted artiste and could not tell where he was sent to after his conviction.
His counterpart with the Ashanti regional Police Command, Inspector Godwin Ahiayor, also had no knowledge of where Abodam slept that night as at press time yesterday.
The development has deepened rumours that the sentence was nothing less than cosmetic, in view of theoffence – possessing marijuana – under which he was convicted.
He was due to be released from prison yesterday per the sentence, and in addition pay a fine of GH¢1,200 imposed by the KMA court.
The famous hiplife singer was convicted for smoking wee in public in November last year.
Abodam, upon his return to breathe an air of freedom, tweeted early Friday morning: “Madded morning to y’all !!! Wofreme #Yakubu… I want all my fans and loved ones to know that am doing great and back home. Thanks y’all for the luv and upport. #iappreciatedaluv #Yakubu.”
Arrest
Kwaw Kese was arrested at the wine shop of Plus 2 Pub at Nhyiaeso, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, on November 22, 2014 and arraigned for prosecution subsequently.
Uniformed policemen on snap check duties close to the pub arrested Kwaw Kese when they were informed about his offensive conduct – smoking the illicit substance in the midst of people.
ASP Charles Appiah of the Police Drug Law Enforcement Unit said the incident happened around 11pm when several people were making merry at the Plus 2 Pub.
Abodam was said to have gone to Kumasi to take part in the famous ‘Old School Reunion’ programme aired by a Kumasi-based radio station – LUV Fm – at the Baba Yara Stadium.
He proceeded to the Plus 2 Wine Shop, a popular hangout in the city, after the programme where he decided to smoke the narcotic substance.
Scores of people who became offended alerted the police, leading to his arrest, which he did not resist, but pleaded clemency from the law enforcers and was put before the court for trial.
The court remanded him into prison custody.
In-And-Out Of KATH
He was put into a police van and sent to the Kumasi Central Prisons which served as his new home until he was granted bail on December 30, 2014 on health grounds.
The court granted him GH¢80,000 bail with one surety to be justified, and he had been in and out of hospital prior to his trial.
He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) on December 11 – a day before he made his second appearance in court – after complaining of stomach upset.
Police put him under a 24-hour guard at a special ward at KATH while medical officers observed his condition.
His initial plea for bail was refused by judge Boampong, who has now been promoted to a high court.

Reasons why my respect for Kwaw Kese keeps soaring

Reasons why my respect for Kwaw Kese keeps soaring

NY DJ
Over the past few months, the love and respect I have for Ghanaian musician Kwaw Kese (as a journalist and radio personality) has soared and I think it is time I let you in with this write-up.
Late last year, I broke news of Kwaw Kese’s arrest through this same medium www.nydjlive.com at a moment when the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, Chief Inspector Muhammed Tanko had denied knowledge of his arrest.
Many thought it was of those regular hype stories done by most bloggers as Kwaw Kese was gearing up for the release of his Forever album.
Well, this called for heightened tension as people called for my head especially since the police had denied knowledge of any such arrest but I still stood my grounds. (Thanks to my informants from higher sources)
Finally, news of his arrest was confirmed and I could save my ear from all the phone calls.
Fast forward to how events unfolded
Although Kwaw Kese had been reliably informed I was the first to break the news of his arrest, he was not hesitant in allowing me visit him when he was remanded at the Kumasi Central Prisons. Keep in mind, the prison officers had turned down visits from all media personalities and journalists. What was so special about me?
During his back and forth case adjournment, I was never denied any information I sought for either by his manager Kelvin or his lawyer, Kwasi Boaitey (who happened to be a senior colleague radio presenter back at Kapital Radio).
If my memory serves me right, I remember I was present at almost every court hearing and I can recount how many media outlets depended on me for updates on his court case.
When Kwaw Kese was granted bail, he and his team hit me up on the foundation’s desire to reach out on Vals Day and together, it happened with the support of Tigo Ghana and other sponsors. We spent time at the Children’s Ward at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and later to the Kumasi Central Prisons where he donated items to the inmates.
On all these occasions, Kwaw Kese kept a clean sheet as he further responded to my radio interviews on my show Ryse N Shyne on YFM 102.5MHz prior to and after the release of his apology song Massa I Beg.
Fast forward, plans were ripe to release a song after a name he had been given by the Muslim community at the Kumasi Central Prisons and guess who he broke that news to? Myself. I mean Yakubu.
Until the song leaked by whoever 30 minutes prior to release time, Kwaw Kese had sent me the song a day earlier to premier on my radio show.
Now these thoughts may look like a disjointed puzzle as you read but all I seek to push out with my long writing is that it would be very abnormal for anyone who feels let down by a friend to get back and understand my job as a journalist and radio presenter. Kwaw Kese never attached emotions to what I did.
I know how many colleagues have had problems with public figures because they published or said bad things about them. I’ve had my own share as a radio presenter. It was however OK when I remained a presenter until I started active blogging.
I by this writing wish other public figures would understand our job just as Kwaw Kese did with me and allow us work.
Just as they are happy with us and ready to share all the good news we write about then, I wish they would in the same vein understand what we do as media personalities.
Yes, somebody may say I had not been a good friend to him because of my reportage and I remember my dad saying the same thing when I was going to visit him at the prisons. Well, you may still hold your opinions on that.
Kwaw Kese and I continue to maintain a very good relationship and trust me, my love and respect for the brother just soared like an eagle. Keep it one hundred and we are here to support. Respect my job and you have me.
Someone may say he has no option than to resort to people who can still help him but to me, the fact that he respected my work and continues to maintain that good relationship with me is enough justification of someone who appreciates my work hence the love for his work as well.
To all who supported, appreciated and continue to appreciate my works as well, I love you right back.

Sonnie Badu explains why he employed a ‘bodyguard’

Sonnie-Badu-620x330
In recent times, several men of God and religious heads have come under severe attacks and criticism for hiring the services of personal security men popularly known as bodyguards who ‘protect’ and walk with them all the time despite a very popular reference to Psalm 127:1 in the Holy Bible that states “………..Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”
Although, this might sound funny since we are made to believe this, it is quite understandable that such people need some sort of physical protection wherever they go hence the new trend and renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Sonnie Badu has for the first time revealed why he hired the services of a personal security.
Appreciating his favourite security man in an Instagram post, the Adonai hitmaker stated;
My favourite security man I call him airforce 1… #blackbelt, I am blackbelt too” and oh, who knew the gospel musician was security conscious as well and had a black belt too?.
He continued to explain why he employed a security man stating his wrist watch was once pulled away as he performed bring to bear the fact that not everyone in the presence of God was a “BornAgain”.
But seriously I did not think I needed that until my watch one time got pulled off, that’s when I realised no be all be BornAgain Ooo..”, he wrote.

Although Burna Boy together with South African hiphop star AKA had earlier arrived in the country in anticipation of a great night, www.nydjlive.com can confirm  it was a nightmare as little over forty people including soundmen and stage managers were present at the event grounds.
But for musical duo Keche who kept the people present entertained with their hit singles, all other guest artists including AKA, Sarkodie and the main artist Burna Boy were absent from the event.

If you can’t use social media, pay someone to run it for you – Sonnie Badu

Sonnie Badu
In a world where technology is fast taking over all activities and virtually everything happens at the click of a button, it baffles me that a lot of Ghanaian Gospel artists unlike their counterparts who are considered secular refuse to take advantage of the enormous opportunities available to them on the internet
For some time now, most Gospel artists have gone all spiritual about social media and the internet at large, stated ignorant inexplicable reasons or referred to it as one of the many signs of end time but for award winning Ghanaian international Gospel musician Sonnie Badu, the internet is of great essence today and has advised colleague musicians to “jump on it and take advantage of it”.
Recounting his experience over the years as a Minister of the Gospel in a post onInstagram, Sonnie Badu advised the “young and upcoming ones” to take time off social media and wait upon the Lord.
He also outlined the essence of social media saying “your followers need to hear from you, if you can’t use it, pay someone to run it for u…it’s an internet world”
Read the full Instagram post.
“When we started preparing for ministry like 17 years ago , the advantage we had was there was no social media , YouTube did not even exist so we had the chance to seek the face of God without thinking “let me hurry and put this picture of mine on FB or insta ” this is my advice you the up and coming once , 1:take time off social media , 2: be patient and wait for your time 3: don’t fake emotions for caption sake 4: wait on the lord , once you Start working on all these you will begin to experience the rough roads, (that’s also part of the test) … To fill a stadium not one but 2 back to back was not an overnight job it took me almost 18years of preparation.. We will continue tomorrow … For those who started without social media and have paid their price, this is what you also do , jump on it and take advantage of it, don’t be all spiritual with it, it’s an Internet world , your followers need to hear from you, if you can’t use it , pay someone to run it for u.”
What do you think of his advice? How many Ghanaian Gospel musicians can you have access to online?
Well, incase you need social media services as an artist or company, you can call on us at sfaceentertainment.blogspot.com 0249882894Live to push your brands.
