Samini Eyes MUSIGA Presidency

The CEO of High Grade Family Record label said on Adom Entertainment Hall that the incumbent MUSIGA President, Bice Osei Kufour aka Obour has encouraged many young artistes, including himself to vie for the presidency of the union.
“I believe Obour’s four years administration has done well for the Union. Based on the inspiration I get from the young man’s work, I think the presidency is not too far from the young ones like me,” he said.
His comments come after Obuor emerged the landslide winner in the MUSIGA presidential race last weekend at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
Obuor pulled a whopping 88 votes, representing 70% of all valid votes, in a fiercely contested race that saw Simigwa star Gyedu Blay Ambolley win 22 votes, and record producer Apeatus win only 18 votes.
His victory means he will remain the MUSIGA president for another four years.
Samini was not one of the 150 delegates who voted this year, but he said he was not surprised Obour won the election overwhelmingly because Obuor’s achievements are there for all to see.

Qustion Shatta Wale For Evidence – Maurice Ampaw To Police

Private legal practitioner, Dr Maurice Ampaw has suggested that the
police should invite Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale and interrogate him
for more evidence regarding his allegation against his former manager,
Bulldog.

Shatta Wale at a press conference in Pluzz FM studios
alleged that Bulldog, real name Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson, in a fit
of anger, threatened to kill him like he [Bulldog] killed somebody.
“Somebody asked him, ‘Bulldog are you not the
same person who has issues to answer in Ghana about things like these?’
And he responded, ‘don’t mind him, I will kill him like I killed the
other guy’,”
Shatta Wale said.
Although the name of the one allegedly murdered was
not mentioned, some people are making reference to the murder of Kwaw
Kese’s manager, Fennec Okyere of which Bulldog was charged for but was
later acquitted.
Maurice Ampaw in an interview with Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch
stated that the Shatta Wale would have to substantiate the wild
allegations. According to him, one side of the implications of the
statement may be that the artiste has evidence needed for the
prosecution of Bulldog, for which reason the police should invite him.
“There are serious implications to what Shatta
Wale said. It makes Bulldog a serious suspect which the police should
investigate. First, Shatta in this case is a whistle blower and has
shown that he knows what we don’t know and because he was managing him,
he couldn’t let them out. It means Shatta is now ready to confess. The
police should invite him by now and send him to Royal Senchi, feed him,
let him feel fine and ask for more information. If he levelled those
allegations out of pain, he will tell you; if it’s true, he will say
it,”
the ‘showbiz lawyer’ said.
Dr Ampaw however stated that Bulldog could sue Shatta Wale for defamation if he finds the allegations damaging.
“If Shatta is unable to prove, Bulldog can sue
him for defamation because he has implicated him as a criminal and no
one would want to associate himself with a murderer. Bulldog should not
take this as a mere allegation,
” he noted.
Meanwhile, family of Fennec Okyere have called for
the arrest of Shata Wale and his former Manager to establish who he was
referring to.

I PREFARE COMEDY MORE THAN ACCOUNTING-FAUSTA ROMANUS

The art of Comedy, especially stand-up comedy in Ghana is growing steadily. But the major challenge this budding industry faces is the lack of sponsorship and wide public acceptance.

Comedians such as (Hon) Fritz Baffour and Tommy Annan Forson have all contributed their quota in ensuring that this industry flourishes. The current generation boasts of many spectacular comedians. One of such talents is the ‘rib cracker’, Foster Romanus.

Foster Owusu Amponsah, who responds to the stage name, Romanus, started his career as a humourist when he joined Top Class Entertainment about a decade ago.

The first runner-up for Stars of the Future, comedy section, revealed on the Xclusive Chat With Real Eugene of The Big Exclusive Show on Radio Univers that he had to desert his accounting class to pursue his dreams of becoming a top class stand-up comedian.

"I went to University of Professional Studies (UPS). I was doing Chartered Accounting…There I realised that the brain was not meant for accounting…It was then that Stars of the Future came up".

After placing second on the comedy edition of Stars of the Future, Foster Romanus focused his attention on exploring the field of theatre arts which eventually led to his admission into the University of Ghana to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts.

In the process, he had to abandon his studies in Chartered Accounting to make enough time for comedy. ‘I enrolled and did Theatre Arts…That was the course! 'I dey force for there paa’ (comedy)’.

When asked by the host, Real Eugene if he regrets choosing comedy over a career in accounting, Romanus responded that though sponsorship was absent, his passion for comedy kept him in the industry and he has no regrets.

‘I don’t (regret) at all…I did comedy for almost six years without pay…God took care of us. We were using our own monies to fund our shows. But we still did it.’

He added that he had to finance his own shows and performed usually for free.

The old boy of Pope Johns Senior High School who shot to fame with his role in the theatrical work titled Gallery of Comedies at the National Theatre has been soaring high ever since.

His appearance on Viasat 1’s ‘Laugh a Minute’ show also gave more people the opportunity to see Romanus in acton.

Foster Romanus is one of the few stand-up comedians the country has produced. He has not failed to mesmerise his audience with hilarious pieces on the numerous shows he has appeared on recently.

Comedy Bar, Comedy Fiesta, DKB Comedy Tour and Flagstaff House are few of the numerous shows Romanus has featured on.

Why I Resigned From TV3 – Nana Aba Anamoah

News caster and TV presenter, Nana Aba Anamoah, on Monday, resigned from TV3, a television broadcaster in Ghana.
The action comes after the ‘Diva’ host was suspended following controversies that emerged on social media when pictures she tweeted suggesting she was at Old Trafford to watch her favourite team Manchester United turned out not to be hers.
In a statement released by the media house on Saturday, October 3, 2015, TV3 said: “After preliminary investigations internally, and in accordance with TV3’s own commitment to the highest level of professionalism, Management has decided to take Nana Aba Anamoah off air until further notice”.
In her resignation letter, which was leaked to the media, Nana Aba expressed disappointment at the decision to suspend her, describing it as a sign of “ingratitude” on TV3’s part.
The letter further stated: “My firm belief, unquestionable loyalty and commitment to the TV3 brand have never been in doubt. Indeed, I did everything humanly possible to guard jealously, protect firmly and stand by TV3 through thick and thin; an action that has earned me many foes within my social circles. I tried to resign on a number of occasions to pursue other Interests or further academic studies but TV3 persuaded me to defer my decision on all occasions. Out of respect, I obliged.
I however, find the decision by the management and board of TV3 to suspend me rather disappointing and a sign of ingratitude from an organization that I have committed twelve years of my adult life to.
For something I consider peripheral and not even remotely connected to the elements of my job (which I have delivered with uttermost capability). I was expecting the management and board to be more circumspect in their decision making…”

Bulldog to go into politics after dumping Shatta Wale?

Now that Bulldog and his Bullhaus Entertainment crew is no longer managing Shatta Wale, he can now venture into politics like he had earlier indicated.

Going down the memory lane, Bulldog had indicated in an interview with KSM in July, that he’ll be going into politics when he’s done with Shatta Wale.

The now former manager of Shatta Wale had revealed to KSM that;

“I’m entering into politics after I’m done with Shatta Wale.

“I’m a vessel, and I want to help, I want to serve through politics; I’ve been thinking about it for some time now, so after Shatta Wale, my next mission is politics”, he said.

As at now, it is unclear what really caused Bulldog’s split with Shatta Wale though a report by one of our media partners indicates that Shatta had mentioned on radio that he initially wanted to sack Bulldog before Bullhaus ended their contract.

A recording was released, on which Shatta is heard saying that “…he Bulldog doesn’t work like a manager.”

Shatta Wale has however denied this statement with a post on Facebook, saying;

“I have not granted any interview on this kalabule that's happening so please my friends in the media should stop fabricating stories.i will Let you know why Bulldog is doing wat he is doing. I don't fake, i live a truthful Life.”

Shatta Wale will be holding a press conference on one of the radio staions on today, so we will keep you updated on the happenings.

Ambolley heads to court over MUSIGA election results

One of the failed aspiring presidential candidates for the Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Gyedu Blay Ambolley, has threatened to challenge the outcome of Saturday’s congress.

According to him, he is heading to court to seek redress and challenge the results.

The controversial musician claims that the election was not free and fair. The delegates and members of MUSIGA, last Saturday, October 31 2015, renewed the four-year mandate of the embattled president of the Union, Bice Osei Kuffour.

Obour, as he is commonly known, secured 88 out of the 133 votes cast to retain his seat.

Renowned sound engineer Appietus also obtained 18 votes, while highlife legend Gyedu Blay Ambolley managed to secure 22 votes out of the total valid votes cast in the Koforidua Congress.

But one of the furious contestants, Ambolley, in an interview with Ashh FM Entertainment Zone on Sunday, said there is a cancer of ‘Mafiarism’ in the Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) which overturned the progress of the elections.

The litigant musician said the ‘Mafiarism’ that took place before, during and after the congress was appalling and must be condemned.

He explained that “things are going on in a way that is not favouring the musicians or people who have contributed a lot to music in Ghana.”

Arrest Shatta Wale, Bulldog - Late Fennec's family

The family of Kwaw Kesse’s manager, the late Fennec Okyere have called for the arrest of Shatta Wale and his former manager Bulldog.

Spokesperson for the family, Ursula Owusu told Starr News that she has alerted the Police over the claims by the ‘Hold it’ singer.

According to her, the statements by Shatta Wale must be probed by the Police to establish who he was referring to.

Shatta Wale made an allegation against his former manager, Bulldog at a radio press conference today on Pluzz 89.9 FM over the split of the two.

He claimed Bulldog in a fist of anger, threatened to kill him.

“I have repeated the part about him threatening to kill me twice and I won’t hide it. Somebody asked him; Bulldog are you not the same person who has issues to answer in Ghana about things like these, and he responded; don’t mind him, I will kill him like I killed the other guy,” the Shatta Movement king told the media at press conference in Accra today.

It is unclear the individual Shatta made reference to, but Bulldog was charged over the murder of another entertainment personality Fennec Okyere last year. He has, however, been acquitted and discharged in the case.

Fennec Okyere, who was the manager of Kwaw Kese, he was killed last year at his Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex Road, Accra on Thursday, March 13 by unknown assailants. He died at age 31.
