“Nowadays,
lyrics in songs don’t add up. Songs nowadays lack great lyrical
dexterity. We’ve lost originality. Consider a lyrics like ‘girl na pozzy
sɛ yooyi’, I’ve never seen a lady who has posed like "yooyi" before. So
nowadays, lyrics in songs don’t add up anymore,” Tinny said in an interview with Flexy on ETV Ghana’s Talk Showbiz in 2013.
The voice was played
back on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz on Tuesday morning and set the premise for a
discussion. Reacting to the comments, Josuah, the wordsmith of the
group questioned why Tinny would make such a statement.
According to him, ‘Makola Kwakwe’, the song which shot Tinny to fame did not make sense either, adding that Tinny’s brand is dead.
“What
was the sense in Tinny’s ‘Makola Kwakwe’ song? The lyrics don’t even
make sense. I love Tinny to the bone, he was one of the people I really
admired whilst growing up... Tinny’s brand is even dead… We did not
reply Tinny then because our ‘Aluguntugui’ song was just fresh,” he fired back.
